Glee Season Finale! Tuesday, June 08, 2010

Tonight's the night—the “Glee” season finale promises to deliver the same dynamic musical numbers we've been enjoying all season! Stanton's has been working to keep you up-to-date on music from the show that is available for YOUR choir, and as we prepare for this evening's big finish, it's probably a good time to recap.

Some of the songs featured in the first part of the season were not yet available in choral music when we did our Road to Sectionals blog, but are now off the press and ready for your group. Single Ladies with a Crush, is a creative pairing of Beyonce's hit Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It) and Crush by Jennifer Paige.  New from arranger Kirby Shaw are Sweet Caroline-especially effective for your men's ensemble—and Jump (also available arranged by Andy Beck). Also check out Can't Fight This Feeling arranged by Alan Billingsley (also currently available in an arrangement by Greg Gilpin) and No Air arranged by Alan Billingsley.

Episode 14: Hell-O, finished with Hello Goodbye by the Beatles. There is already an arrangement in print by Alan Billingsley, and a Mac Huff arrangement that more closely resembles the version seen on “Glee” is due out this summer.  Express Yourself, from the Power of Madonna episode is part of the Girls Rock the ‘80s Medley arranged by Mark Brymer, and we're hoping to see more from this episode in print soon!

From Home, Episode 16, Christina Aguilera's Beautiful would be a great way to feature your women's ensemble or your mixed choir. A House Is Not a Home and One Less Bell to Answer created a standout moment in the episode when performed by Matthew Morrison and Kristin Chenoweth. While they're not available in choral arrangements, both songs are available as solos in the Burt Bacharach Anthology. From Episode 17: Bad Reputation, both Ice, Ice Baby and U Can't Touch This are featured in the Dance Evolution medley arranged by Mark Brymer, and Physical is part of Brymer's Disco Divas medley.

In Episode 18: Laryngitis, The Climb by Miley Cyrus is featured, as is the compelling, One by U2. Included in the Awesome 80′s medley is Jessie's Girl, another memorable number from this episode.  The rousing Billy Joel favorite, Piano Man, from the Dream On episode gets a fresh a cappella treatment in an arrangement by Philip Lawson, and the iconic, I Dreamed a Dream, from Les Miserables, is available in several versions for choir; notably an accessible arrangement by Ed Lojeski.

As we race toward the close of the season, Tell Me Something Good, from Episode 21: Funk is included in the crowd-pleasing 70's Soul Celebration by Mark Brymer. Another One Bites the Dust from that same episode and Bohemian Rhapsody, which is scheduled to appear in tonight's finale, are both found in the Tribute to Queen medley, and Bohemian Rhapsody also comes as its own single choral arrangement. The timeless Over the Rainbow, will also be included in the season finale, Journey, and is available in a beautiful arrangement by Mark Hayes, as well as many other choral and solo versions.

There are also several piano/vocal/guitar collections from “Glee” that are currently available or “in the works.” Many of the songs from the first part of the season are featured in either the original Glee songbook, or the follow-up collection More Songs from Glee.  Scheduled to be released this summer is Glee: The Music, The Power of Madonna, which will includes seven of the hits featured in the Power of Madonna episode. Later in the fall, look for Glee, Volume 3 - Showstoppers, packed with more than twenty of the biggest songs from the second part of the season!

If you're looking for a song you don't see listed here, please contact us at 1-800-42-MUSIC and ask—we may be able to help you find something that will work for your ensemble. Check back here throughout the summer to see any updates on what music is available, and don't forget (as if we REALLY need to remind you) to check out the “Glee” season finale tonight at 9 pm on Fox!
