It's Christmas in July! Thursday, July 22, 2010

Whooo…it's hot outside!  Whether you're already preparing for your choral concert program for this winter (way to plan ahead!) or you just want to imagine some cooler temperatures in the middle of the blistering hot summer, check out Stanton's suggestions for your winter performances!  Here are just a few of our favorite lighter concert choices for choirs:

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year is a perfect winter concert opener.  Arranged in a 4/4 “show-biz” style, this setting is full of holiday glitz and excitement!

The Hawaiian holiday greeting Mele Kalikimaka will add a merry and multicultural flair to any Christmas performance.  Pull out your palm trees and grass skirts and get your audience to join in on the luau!

For an unexpectedly welcome encore, try Linus and Lucy from the “Peanuts” animated television specials.  This a cappella arrangement is challenging yet accessible, and will be a novelty hit for the holiday season and beyond.
