Meet the Stanton’s Team – Julia M. Friday, July 08, 2016

We’ve written before on the Stanton’s blog about our knowledgeable staff. Now, we’d like to give you a chance to get to know our staff on a more personal level. Over the next several months, we will be having members of the Stanton’s team take our “30 Questions in 60 Seconds” questionnaire. We hope you will get to know the “real” us, and learn how we might better be of service to you!

Julia MoessnerJulia Moessner is Vice President of Stanton’s Sheet Music, and shares many company management responsibilities with our company President (her brother!) Eric Strouse. You can always count on a smile and a cheery “Hello!” from Julia when you walk in our front door!

What department do you work in at Stanton’s? – Vice President of Stanton’s Sheet Music, and I also work on the sales floor in the Keyboard and Pop Department.

What do you consider your specialties here? – Customer service and print promotions.

How long have you been working at Stanton’s? – I started August of 1986, so almost 30 years!

What is your favorite task at Stanton’s? – Being able to help customers find exactly what they need, and working on Stanton’s email promotions.

What is your hometown? – I would have to say my hometown is Hilliard, Ohio. Our family moved there when I was in fourth grade, and I graduated from Hilliard High School in 1986. I now reside in Dublin, Ohio.

Where did you go to college? – Columbus State Community College and The Ohio State University

What is your major instrument? – It used to be cello, but now I enjoy playing the piano.

What do you like to do in your spare time? – I love spending time with my family – snow skiing, boating on the lake, and attending my kids’ after-school and club events.

What days are you available at Stanton’s? – Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

What is the last song/piece you listened to? – I have to keep up with the music my kids listen to, so “7 Years” by Lukas Graham

What is the last song/piece you played/sang? – Ragtime Surprise (based on the 2nd movement of Haydn’s Symphony #94 in G Major, “The Surprise”), arranged by Martha Mier in one of her Classical Jazz, Rags and Blues collections.

What is your most memorable musical moment? – In 1984 President Ronald Reagan came to Columbus, Ohio and our high school got to perform for him!

What musical sound or noise do you love? – I love the cello – it has such a deep and rich sound.

What musical sound or noise do you hate? – A first year clarinet student – a friend of mine’s daughter played clarinet and she invited us over for a little Christmas recital. That was really hard on my ears.
