Involve your youngest singers in worship this spring with one of these great new anthems for children’s choirs!

Written in honor of Helen Kemp, this lyrical unison ballad from Mark Patterson exudes warmth and strength. A flowing, expressive piano accompaniment grounds the piece, and optional bells or chimes punctuate the message. The anthem ends with an inspiring coda depicting the house of the Lord, where Mama Helen in certainly singing with joy.

Sing Hallelujah (Jesus Lives Today) by Mark Burrows
This joyful anthem from Mark Burrows is bursting with the good news of Jesus’ resurrection! A sparkling two-part echo is the melodic foundation, making this a great choice for a combined-age choir. While perfect for the Easter season, this singable anthem is also fitting whenever we celebrate Jesus at work in the world.

Climbin’ Up the Mountain arr. Mark Patterson
This tune has soul! Treble voices shine in Mark Patterson’s new spiritual arrangement. Primarily unison singing allows ensembles to focus on healthy technique and soulful Gospel style, while the final section of the piece layers optional three-part harmony to showcase your ensemble. A great piece for Epiphany, especially on Transfiguration Sunday.

Handclaps, spoken refrains, and a dynamic piano accompaniment make this jubilant arrangement of the familiar spiritual a perfect selection for older elementary choirs or choirs of any age. The final verse includes an optional descant that heightens the sense of joy and exuberance found in this rapturous piece.

The Master Designer by Cindy Berry
The wonder of God’s creation comes alive in this charming piece for older elementary voices. A flowing piano accompaniment beautifully supports the sparkling melody and highlights a feeling of awe and reverence found in the piece. A short snippet of “This Is My Father’s World” adds a familiar hymn connection to the anthem presentation.

This Is the Day by Ken Berg
This cleverly written song gives text options for both general use and Easter. Incorporating the familiar hymn Praise the Lord, Ye Heavens Adore Him, the song moves along at a joyful pace with syncopated rhythms and a fun melody. It finishes with the combining of optional second and third parts. The percussion adds another layer of creative flavor.

All elements combine to create a unique song of praise! Ostinati Boomwhackers and percussion instruments enhance the fun vocal lines. Three independent melodies are introduced and then combined together for a creative layering effect. Add in the body percussion and your kids will declare this their favorite song!

See the Lilies by Brad Nix
Based on Luke 12:24-31, this anthem reminds us that just as God cares for the lilies of the field and the birds of the air, so, too, will God care for His children. Crafted in a calypso feel, the simple melody and gentle syncopations are tastefully accompanied by piano, optional flute, and optional egg shakers.

Judy H. has been working in Stanton’s Choral Department since 1975. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Bowling Green State University, and a Master’s degree in Choral Conducting from The Ohio State University. A member of the Grove City Chamber Singers, Judy also enjoys reading and spending time with her four grandchildren.

Jennifer F. is a graduate of Otterbein College with a degree in Vocal Performance. She has worked at Stanton’s for over 14 years specializing in Sacred Choral, Classical Vocal and Handbell music. Jennifer is a soprano section leader in the Chancel Choir at First Community Church in Columbus Ohio, and is also the founder, Artistic Director and bass bell ringer for Handbells Columbus.
