Thanksgiving Music for Organ Thursday, November 02, 2017

As you prepare for upcoming worship services, we recommend two fine collections to celebrate the Autumn festivals:
The first is “Hymn Preludes for the Autumn Festivals” by Wilbur Held. There are seven hymn arrangements that cover the Autumn festivals from All Saints’ Day through Thanksgiving. This collection is for an advanced player – the pedal part is busy, and there is plenty of action between the right and left hands, making for interesting and pleasing listening.
The second collection is “Come, Ye Thankful People, Come” arranged by Matthew Corl. This contains four Thanksgiving preludes for organ (DIX, KREMSER, NUN DANKET ALLE GOTT, and ST GEORGE’S WINDSOR). Each piece is only two or three pages long, so if you need to play something fairly short, this is perfect!
