“Silent Night” (German: Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht) is a popular Christmas carol, composed in 1818 by Franz Xavier Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr in the small town of Oberndorf bei Salzburg, Austria.
In 2018, we celebrate the 200th anniversary of this lovely carol, and festivals and events are planned in commemoration around the world.
