Keeping up with the local music scene in any city is a challenge – even more so where jazz  is concerned.  In addition to a lack of extensive local arts coverage, the jazz scene often consists of a lot of local (and therefore generally unknown, but really good) musicians.

The Columbus jazz scene has recently gained a great friend and resource in  JazzColumbus.com.  Created and maintained by Mark Subel, a local jazz enthusiast, JazzColumbus.com is an information hub for everything happening on the Columbus scene.  The main page features articles about musicians, groups, and upcoming jazz events. Â The monthly jazz calendar contains a daily listing of jazz gigs around central Ohio. Â Â There are also sections devoted to Columbus jazz venues, individual musicians, and jazz education

Other great live jazz resources include the Columbus Dispatch Weekender (in the paper each Thursday) and weeklies The Other Paper and Columbus Alive!  Pick a gig and go check it out – you’ll be glad you did!
