COMPOSER SPOTLIGHT: Juliet Hess Friday, April 09, 2010

One of the newest composers to come across our radar in the choral department is Juliet Hess.  Born in 1979, she currently teaches elementary vocal and instrumental music in the Toronto, Canada area, directs a number of choral, instrumental and drumming ensembles, and performs as a freelance percussionist, choral musician, and drummer and dancer in Ghanaian performance groups.  These three pieces of hers are all appropriate for accomplished upper-elementary choirs, middle school ensembles, and even young high school groups.

By the Sea allows your singers to tell a musical story to your audience.  Perfect for working on unison singing.

The simple and beautiful song Happiness expresses the joy one feels on the first perfect spring day following an especially long winter.  Excellent for spring concerts and festival performances.

I'll Tell You How the Sun Rose paints a beautiful picture of the world at sunrise, with the quiet intensity of imparting a great secret.  The stunning musical imagery is sure to captivate your choir and audience.
