Community Band Features Part 3: Big Band Music Friday, June 25, 2010

The 2009 – 2010 school year may be over, but not everything musical winds down-summer community bands are just starting up! Across the country there are literally hundreds of community bands preparing concerts full of Broadway, Movies, Patriotic and Popular Music. As we look towards summer, Stanton's is already seeing directors visiting the store looking for the perfect piece to add to their Community Band library.

Two of our all time favorite selections are Salute to American Jazz and Glenn Miller In Concert; both of these pieces will delight your audience. Another great piece is  Tribute to Harry James featuring “Caribiribin,” “The Mole,” “You Made Me Love You,” ”Trumpet Blues” and “Cantabile.”  If you are looking for a Big Band medley try Big Band Spectacular featuring “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore,” “Don’t Sit Under the Appletree,” “Little Brown Jug,” “Stompin’ at the Savoy,” “Moonlight Serenade,” “Eager Beaver,” “Johnson Rag,” “Racing the Moon,” “Two O’Clock Jump,”  “Don’t Be That Way” and “I’m Getting Sentimental Over You.”

We are hoping that this summer brings us great weather and great outdoor concerts, and Stanton's knows that finding the perfect piece to compliment your concert program is crucial to success!
