Russell Robinson to speak at OMEA Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Composer, arranger and educator Dr. Russell Robinson is well-known for his thoughtful compositions and arrangements and his dynamic conference and festival sessions.  We're looking forward to Dr. Robinson's sessions at the upcoming OMEA Professional Development Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio. He’s sure to be talking about some of these great resources:

Creative Rehearsal Techniques features actual footage of Dr. Robinson in workshop events.  You will see him discuss the challenges of today's choral classroom with candor and humor, while addressing real problems that directors face and presenting practical solutions.  Perfect for watching in seminar situations or for college methods classes.

Jazz Style and Improvisation is designed to assist your students in achieving a comfort level with the performance of jazz style.  Subjects and techniques include chords within the blues style, use of scat syllables, improvising on three notes, trading fours, listening and learning, and putting it all together.

Middle School Singers (Turning Their Energy Into Wonderful Choirs) is packed with ideas and techniques especially for middle school and junior high directors, or for choral music education students.  Dr. Robinson shows us new and tried-and-true ways to make young and developing singers look and sound better.  Learn how to take your singers' energy and put it to great use!

Plan to attend Dr. Robinson’s session at OMEA, and look for the Stanton’s booth in the exhibit hall!
