Involve your youngest singers in worship with one of these great anthems for children's choirs!

On Palm Sunday, your youngest primary singers will be successful with Little Grey Donkey, a unique anthem that uses repetition and step-wise motion for easy learning and memorization.  The use of a minor mode, the notation, and the text create many musical and Biblical teaching opportunities as the church enters into Holy Week.  Also try Riding on the Road to Jerusalem with older children; brief moments of two-part writing enhance the primarily unison offering, and the infectious syncopations make this anthem a charming and effective choice.

Antiphonal Alleluia is an upbeat Easter anthem that exclaims praises to the risen Christ.  The piece is expertly written for two-part antiphonal voices, teaching young children how to begin to sing in parts.  Repetition of text and tune will make this anthem easy to learn and memorize.

For Mother's Day, use The Blessing of a Mother's Love, which gives children the chance to honor their mothers and grandmothers through song.  It also teaches the children that God's love shines through the people who love and care for those honored on Mother's Day.

Mark Patterson's setting of Didn't My Lord Deliver Daniel combines the traditional melody with an exciting second vocal line and a driving and rhythmic piano accompaniment.  Children's choirs will love learning the story of Daniel in the lion's den through music and will be challenged by the syncopated vocal line.  Another good choice for general Sundays in spring is I Sing the Mighty Power of God.  This carefully considered arrangement by James Koerts allows younger voices once again to discover the wonder of this special hymn.
