Spring Into Summer with Pop Music for Choirs! Thursday, March 04, 2010

If you're planning a concert of popular music with your choir this spring, we've got some great recommendations for you!  Whether you're looking for music from “Glee,” songs by Michael Jackson, something for your jazz ensemble, a nostalgic pop song, or a current chart-topping hit, we'll help you and your singers swing into summer with some of these great selections.

High school mixed choirs will love to perform music from the Fox hit TV show “Glee,” including the ‘80s hit Jump by Van Halen.  The rhythmic and energized vocals are sure to be a hit, and you can feature a small group of singers alongside your choir.

Audrey Snyder's new arrangement of the Jackson 5's #1 hit I'll Be There is an excellent choice for middle school singers.  Thoughtful adjustments to the rhythms and melodic lines in this arrangement make it perfect for younger choirs.

She's In Love from the Broadway production of The Little Mermaid is full of lively energy and exuberance, and your girls will love re-telling this classic story!  This fun arrangement has many opportunities for solos or small groups, and the accessible vocal parts are easily learned.

Andy Beck has combined two fun, sincere and fresh-sounding love songs by the popular group Plain White T's in the 5-minute medley Hey There Delilah/1 2 3 4.  The ultimate feature for the men in your choir!
