Stanton's Wind Band Reading Session Monday, November 17, 2008

This past weekend the Stanton’s Sheet Music and the Capital University annual Concert Band Reading Session took place.  Over 100 pieces of new concert band literature was read live on stage.  The reading clinic featured 3 sessions of the All Ohio High School Reading Band, a directors band, Hilliard Darby H.S. & Hilliard Memorial Middleschool, plus the Capital University Symphonic Winds & the Wind Symphony.  One of the positive features of the weekend is that all of the students that make up the All Ohio Reading Band have to audition with a Capital University applied faculty member, once the auditions are over, the staff then assigns the students into the 3 reading bands.  This gives students an opportunity to do a formal audition and the Capital University staff a chance to recruit new young music majors.  We wish to thank everyone that attended the reading session and encourage those who have never been to a concert band reading session to attends next years event.
