NYSSMA Story of the Day Saturday, December 13, 2008

The staff members that attended the NYSSMA convention, sat down recently to discuss which was their favorite story coming out of the convention.  We all agreed that the high school student who was in the booth looking at Mollard batons trying to explain to his mother where he was in the convention hall so that they could meet up for her to purchase the new baton that he had selected.  The conversation went like this:

“Mom, I’m in the Stanton’s booth…S-T-A-N-T-O-N-S, Stanton’s…On the right side of the hall, Mom…Stanton’s, S-T-A-N-T-O-N-S!…Mom, just look for the big blue balloon flying above the booth, you’ll find it.”

It just cracked us up! The Stanton’s balloon has always been something that we poke fun at–because it’s a balloon.  It is amazing over the years how many convention attendees will plan to meet “under the Stanton’s balloon.”  Unfortunately, certain convention centers are cracking down on balloons, and we will not be allowed to fly it above our booth at OMEA this year.  We do not have a current picture of the balloon, but we’ll try to take one when we fly it over the KMEA booth in February!
