In What Other City…? Part 1 Tuesday, March 10, 2009

Sheet music retailers are few and far between nationwide and those with the breadth and scope of Stanton’s inventory are fewer and further between.  Local instrument dealers usually only carry basic method and pop books and tailor their print inventory to the school systems they service.  As a result, circumstances occasionally arise that make the staff at Stanton’s ask, “In what other city could this actually happen?”

A local band director recently called to ask if we had the mallet part (go figure) to a piece their band would be performing for OMEA adjudication - except, there was one small catch – the adjudication was that evening.

Stanton’s doesn’t stock extra parts to arrangements, so the part was placed on order with the publisher.  We did, however have two copies of the arrangement in-stock.  As a result, we were able to make an ‘emergency copy’ of the mallet part for the director to pick up between the end of the school day and the performance that night.

“In what other city….?”
