In 1974, the movie “Young Frankenstein” was released. Gene Wilder and Mel Brooks collaborated on this very funny film. Fast forward to 2008, and we have The New Mel Brooks musical “Young Frankenstein,” a 2008 Outer Circle Award winner for Best Musical.
Although the show was not widely enjoyed by critics, there were some standout performances from Broadway regulars Sutton Foster and Megan Mullally. The songbook contains 18 songs from the musical, including: “The Transylvania Mania,†“He Vas My Boyfriend†and “Puttin’ on the Ritz.†Young Frankenstein features music and lyrics by the three-time Tony Award winner Mel Brooks, book by Brooks and three-time Tony Award winner Thomas Meehan, and is directed and choreographed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman.
