Gear Up for Concert Band at the New Concert Band Reading Clinic Friday, October 28, 2011
Marching band season is over, except for those lucky enough to make the playoffs, and concert band is just around the corner. There's no better way to gear up for the upcoming concert season and plan the rest of your school year than by attending the 2011 Wind Band Invitational and New Concert Band Music Reading Clinic co-sponsored by Capital University and Stanton's Sheet Music.
This year's clinic will take place November 18-19 at the Capital University Conservatory of Music, and will feature guest conductor Ryan J. Nowlin, reading band conductors James Swearingen and Barry Kopetz, as well as performances by the Liberty Union Concert Band, Anthony Wayne Symphonic Band, Capital University Wind Symphony, and Capital University Symphonic Winds.
In addition to hearing the best new concert band music, the Concert Band Reading Clinic is a perfect opportunity to get some professional development hours out of the way, recharge your batteries by connecting with world-renowned music educators and comparing notes with colleagues, and blow of some steam playing in the Directors' Reading Band (don't forget your instrument).
The Concert Band Reading Clinic is FREE, and registration may take place on-site. For further details, visit: http://www.capital.edu/wind-invitational/.  For reading session and other concert band music recommendations, click on the Top Choices tabs on the Concert Band webpage at stantons.com.
