recommended by Jen Sper and Lisa Springer, School Choral Music Specialists

Adeste Fideles by Greg Gilpin, TTB with piano, flute, bells, high drum and low drum
Exuding a fanfare-like feel, this exuberant original is absolutely joyful, no matter where it is programmed on a concert! The call-and-response style is easily learned and lends itself to antiphonal performance. The addition of flute, bells, and percussion imparts a celebratory and robust touch to this dynamic work, equally effective in school or church settings.

Ea la Nana arr. Michael Ryan, 2-part with piano and optional flute
Introduce your young choirs to Spanish texts with this simple and accessible Spanish Lullaby arranged by Michael Ryan. Optional English text is also included in the score. Short and sweet, this arrangement is a wonderful learning opportunity for young singers. The optional flute enhances the lullaby to create a beautiful musical moment for your concert.

Dormi, Dormi, bel Bambin arr. Cristi Cary Miller, SSA with piano
Here is a perfect selection for your developing SSA choir. This traditional Italian carol sets the tone for a lovely shift in your concert programming. Your singers and audience will fall in love with this beautiful melody.

Rise Up, Shepherd and Follow arr. Greg Gilpin, SSA with piano
Gilpin’s original holiday song, based on a well-known text, is full of syncopated rhythms, interesting and accessible harmonies, and is supported by a pulsating piano accompaniment. Treble choirs will sound fantastic at holiday time and will find this song fun to learn and perform.

The Cold Winds Blow by Paul David Thomas, TB with piano
For the burgeoning Tenor-Bass choir, “The Cold Winds Blow” is sure to be a great addition to any holiday or festival program. Unique, accessible, and appropriate for small ensemble to large chorus, Thomas does not disappoint with his vocal writing and interesting piano accompaniment.

Eight Days of Lights by Judith Clurman & David Chase, TTBB with piano and optional orchestra
In a flowing 3/4, this piece combines Hebrew and English text in celebration of the festival of “eight sacred lights.” Lyrical vocal lines with touches of polyphony create lovely harmonic progressions supported by an elegant piano accompaniment or full orchestration. Really beautiful!
