Fireworks! by Amy Webb, Grade 2
Start your concert with a bang! “Fireworks!” is a vibrant, high-energy opener that will grab your audience’s attention from the very first note. Bursting with excitement and rhythmic drive, this zesty tune lets every section of the band sparkle. With its infectious spirit and toe-tapping fun, “Fireworks!” is the perfect way to set a joyful, celebratory tone for any performance.

Joyful Lily by Yukiko Nishimura, Grade 2
Lush harmonies dot the page in this wonderful new work for band by composer Yukiko Nishimura. The delicate nature of the “Lily” is on display in this joyful and inspired work!

The Skyborn Metropolis by Ayatey Shabazz, Grade 2
Take an exciting trip to a futuristic city in the clouds! Liftoff with a bold introduction full of open harmonies and fanfare brass before experiencing the bustling metropolis with long melodic lines over driving rhythms and tension filled suspensions. Well scored triplets and simple 16th note figures are effective yet highly accessible to young players. All sections enjoy fun and engaging parts. A great cinematic sound!

Waltz Macabre by Katie O’Hara LaBrie, Grade 1.5

About the Authors:
A former band director, Ken taught grades 5-12 band and music appreciation in both public and parochial schools in Central Ohio, and has been at Stanton’s since 2004. His iPod ranges from jazz and funk to classic and alternative rock, and symphonies. His interests include reading, history, traditional amusement parks, outdoor activities (especially hiking), and watching hockey.

Austin Swack joined the Stanton’s team after a decade of teaching band in Texas public schools, where his ensembles were consistently recognized for superior performance. He is equally at home with beginner and advanced students and has extensive experience programming for ensembles at all ability levels. Additionally, he is a versatile arranger as well as an experienced clinician and adjudicator. In his free time, Austin enjoys running, cycling, and cheering on the Blue Jackets!
