Like the Falling Snow by Bryan Sharpe, SATB with piano
Delicate imagery of falling snow is beautifully reflected in this work by Bryan Sharpe. With metaphorical language, the music evokes the peaceful stillness of a quiet snowfall. The supportive piano accompaniment complements the choral lines, which have moments of independence that add depth and grace, much like the gentle descent of snowflakes.
Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella arr. Earlene Rentz, SATB with piano and optional flute
This energized arrangement of the traditional French carol radiates excitement. Original material winds its way between the charming verses, encouraging Jeanette and Isabella to “run, run, run” to Bethlehem. Those familiar melodic “ah’s” garner anticipation, and a buoyant flute obbligato (available as a free download) amplifies the urgency.
A One-Horse Open Sleigh (In a Jingly Minor Way) by Greg Gilpin, SATB with piano and optional rhythm
A “jingly minor way” is exactly what this original work brings to a performance using the familiar lyrics of Pierpont’s “Jingle Bells.” Animated and rhythmic writing between vocal lines creates a vibrant setting with harmonies in a minor mode; all above a bouncing piano accompaniment suitable for the addition of sleigh bells and the optional available rhythmic parts. This enthusiastic work will bring down the house and be a favorite for years to come.

The Snow by Ruth Morris Gray, SATB with piano and optional sleigh bells
Crisp eighth-note figures and steady sleigh bells create the feeling of a jaunty sleigh ride while contrasting legato sections evoke the chill of blowing snow. Sopranos exclaim the title over and over as others interject with words from Emily Dickinson’s wintertime poem. Some repetition makes for ease of learning, but the unexpected harmonic progression keeps things fresh.
Lux Brumalis (Light of Winter) by Jerry Estes, SATB with piano
Evoke a reflective and tranquil atmosphere during your December concert with this exquisite winter ballad. The contemplative original text and breathtaking music by Jerry Estes will showcase the artistry and musicality of your ensemble.
Personent Hodie arr. Mark Burrows, SATB divisi a cappella with percussion
Mark Burrow’s imaginative arrangement of the ancient “Personent Hodie” creates a festive atmosphere that captures the joy of the holiday season. Featuring vibrant interplay between the choir and the percussionists.
Welcome In! by Daniel Brinsmead, SATB with 4-hand piano
“Welcome In!” is a lively original carol that seeks to capture the Christmas spirit while also sharing an important message of kindness and inclusion. The composer’s aptitude for writing dynamic piano accompaniments shines here. Uptempo and uplifting, this is a wonderful addition to a Christmas or winter program.

What Little, Tiny Child? arr. Ruth Elaine Schram, SATB with piano
Exquisite musical moments abound in this creative pairing of “What Child Is This (Greensleeves)” and “Coventry Carol.” This evocative work creates a mood of wonder, mystery, and anticipation of the birth of the tiny child on that first Christmas night. A fluid, supportive accompaniment graces this memorable piece that is equally suitable for school or church settings.
For Unto Us by Christi Jones, SATB a cappella
This energetic adaptation includes parts of this traditional movement along with the same text in a fun gospel style. The result is a powerful and uplifting interpretation that brings a fresh perspective to Handel’s classic work.
What Child Is This? arr. Bryan Sable, SAB with piano
This traditional carol receives a fresh twist with a modern, jazzy groove and a creative harmonic approach. Choirs and audiences alike will adore this unique take on a beloved classic. A great way to add some variety to your holiday concert!
