Mozart’s Youngest Son, Pianist and Composer Wednesday, June 27, 2012
Franz Xaver Wolfgang Mozart was born on July 26, 1791, only a few months before his famous father, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart died. Franz Xaver was a composer and pianist in his own right. Like his father, he began to compose at a young age.
There are two collections of his Complete Works from Henle. Many of his works composed between 1802 and 1841 appear in print for the first time in these collections. His works are worth a close look. These volumes are a gold mine of “new” material, and include several cadenzas he wrote for some of his father’s concertos.
