“Best of Count Basie” is a collection of twenty-two hits played by Count Basie and his band. It includes his theme songs “One O’Clock Jump” and “April in Paris“. Count Basie was active as a musician and band leader for sixty years, recording with many famous singers such as Frank Sinatra and Sarah Vaughn. He kept the big band sound alive into the early 1980′s. This collection includes the best known titles of the standard big band literature, arranged for vocal solo with piano. Some pieces are piano solo, like “Topsy” and “Jive at Five“.
