Ellington! arr. Stephen Bulla, Grade 4
Duke Ellington and his orchestra are responsible for a wealth of memorable classic melodies and standards! Featuring the music of this legendary band leader, composer, and jazz ambassador, here is a stunning symphonic medley that includes: “Caravan,” “It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing),” “Just Squeeze Me,” “Ko Ko,” “Sophisticated Lady,” and “Take the ‘A’ Train.”
The Lion King (Highlights) arr. Michael Brown, Grade 3
The Lion King saga continues with the 2019 live-action movie that features stunning visuals, and of course the familiar musical numbers. This medley includes “Never Too Late” which was composed for the new film, along with the favorites “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King,” “Hakuna Matata,” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” and “Circle of Life.”
On the Fields of Glory arr. Michael Brown, Grade 3
Over the years, our favorite sports movies have also given us memorable melodies that help us make an emotional connection to these powerful stories. Including familiar themes from “Hoosiers,” “Rudy,” “Remember the Titans,” and “Rocky,” this outstanding medley is sure to become a favorite and trigger fond memories!
Toy Story 4 (Highlights) arr. Johnnie Vinson, Grade 3
Our favorite gang of toys is back for another grand adventure, accompanied by terrific new songs from Randy Newman. This varied and entertaining medley includes “The Ballad of the Lonesome Cowboy,” “I Can’t Let You Throw Yourself Away,” “Cowboy Lament,” and naturally “You’ve Got a Friend in Me.”
Mary Poppins (Selections) arr. Ted Ricketts, Grade 3
One of the most endearing musicals of all time is this Disney classic featuring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. From top to bottom the quality and appeal of all the songs is unmatched. This medley is a guaranteed audience favorite and includes: “Step in Time,” “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” “Chim Chim Cher-ee,” “Feed the Birds” and “A Spoonful of Sugar.”
Yesterday (Soundtrack Highlights) arr. Michael Brown, Grade 3
Featuring the magical music of the Beatles throughout, this imaginative movie explores a world where everyone loses memory of the iconic British band and their music except one person who takes full advantage. Includes “I Want to Hold Your Hand;” “Let It Be;” “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da;” “Back in the U.S.S.R.;” “Hey Jude;” and of course “Yesterday.”
