Theory Boosters for Piano Students Thursday, August 27, 2020

Lisa and Lori Bastien wrote the Theory Boosters Series with fun in mind! From the authors: “We got the idea for these small, simple books when our own children were working on math facts in elementary school. I noticed that both of my children needed repeated practice, in many different books, flashcards, computer games, etc., in order to learn their math facts well. We thought music students would benefit from activity books which focus on a single theory concept in each book, using puzzles, mazes, games, riddles and more to launch students to new heights of theory success!

I have had success with these books by assigning only a few pages a week, but telling students that they can always work ahead, if they would like, and they will earn money for each completed book. I use these books as a review, meaning that I do not choose to teach the theory concepts here, but I use them as a supplement to whatever concept we may be learning in a theory book, or in theory class. Therefore, when I give students one of these Theory Boosters, they can already complete the whole book on their own, in their own time.”
