recommended by Jennifer F., Handbell Music Specialist

Holy, Holy, Holy arr. Karen Lakey Buckwalter, Level 3+
Karen Buckwalter has given us an innovative take on the beloved hymntune NICAEA. The opening gives the tune a meditative feel, complete with unexpected harmonies before growing in intensity to a more traditional, chordal setting of the tune. This arrangement will be equally at home in concert settings or church services throughout the year.

Canticle on When Morning Gilds the Skies arr. Jan Linker & Jane McFadden, Level 3-
This beautiful setting of the hymntunes LAUDES DOMINI and ROYAL OAK is a great choice for worship or concert use. Approachable by intermediate ensembles, the varied styles and textures provide interest for advanced ringers. There’s also the chance to add in the optional keyboard or harp for extra aural variation.

Come Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy arr. Karen Lakey Buckwalter, Level 3
A mysterious opening full of open fifths gives way to an introduction of the tune RESTORATION underscored by a driving eighth-note line. The tune receives numerous treatments, both stylistically and harmonically, before arriving at an explosive ending. An ideal choice for the intermediate ensemble looking for something fun and exciting!

I Want to Walk as a Child of the Light arr. Brenda E. Austin, Level 2+
This 20th century hymn is useful for so many occasions during the church year including Epiphany, Transfiguration, Discipleship, and even the Advent and second coming of Christ. It is rich with scriptural references and set for SATB voices, piano, and solo trumpet in a straightforward, solid presentation.

Jesus Is Calling arr. Mitchell Eithun, Level 2
A sensitive setting of “Softly and Tenderly” paired with the incomparable “Amazing Grace” makes this arrangement perfect for all seasons of the year.

Medley for Thanksgiving arr. Sondra K. Tucker, Level 3
Lots of fun techniques make this lively setting perfect for festive worship. It’s a great festival piece, too, with lots of teachable moments. Ringers will enjoy the extended malleting sections.

May Jesus Christ Be Praised arr. Mitchell Eithun and Sandra Eithun, Level 2/2+
Your smaller ensembles will find this folio of favorite hymns of the church useful and fulfilling for year-round worship and even communion. The optional keyboard accompaniments will enhance and provide texture to these three settings. Titles include: “When Morning Gilds the Skies,” “Break Thou the Bread of Life,” and “Lord, Dismiss Us with Thy Blessing.”

Worship Openers: Handbell Introits Volume 1 arr. Lloyd Larson, Level 2
This collection of seven Worship Openers can serve as both hymn introductions or “introits” for your handbell choir. Each opener leads beautifully into the hymn. There are selections for Palm Sunday, Lent, Easter, Christmas, and general occasions. Titles include: “Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God Almighty,” “Come, Christians, Join to Sing,” “Hosanna, Loud Hosanna,” “Christ the Lord Is Risen Today,” “O Worship the King,” “Angels We Have Heard on High,” and “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty.”
